Tuning it out..all the way out

I work in an environment where if you don't tune certain situations or conversations out, you could literally lose your mind. For the longest time all I could do was listen to the noise that surrounded me five days a week, 9 hours a day. Little did I know, that the constant chatter of people, became too much for me to handle. I'm sure we all have had those days where all you want to do is tune out the rest of the world and just relax for a second. In my case, it took me literally being stressed and tensed everyday, to understand that the lives of those I worked with, had no relevance to mine. My wonderful boyfriend told me once, that the best way to enjoy work (even if you hate it), is to not care; simple as that! I remember thinking to myself, that's it? All I have to do is not care? But the truth is however, that that was all I had to do in order to keep me at ease and tune everything else I didn't care to hear, out. I moved out to Vegas on my own about 3 years ago and left behind the only life I knew existed for 21 years, in Texas. Since then I have come to find out that for one, life is a bitch, but it's the only one we have. Two, that life will NEVER be perfect and that is perfectly fine, and three, that letting the past affect your present, allows it to control your life. I know that everyone has their days, moments, weeks and even months. But the key to not letting any of life's hardships bring you down,or the constant chatter of negativity, is to not care as much as you think you should. My job has taught me all of this and I've only been there for a year. So the next time that someone really pisses you off, or your boss/co-worker acts like an ass towards you, take a deep breath in and remember to tune it all the way out.
