Appreciation
"Everything you can imagine is real."- Pablo Picasso
As I begin to write, I instantly feel a calming sensation arise throughout my body. I'm happy. Really happy.
The journey to growing up has taught me so many wonderful things along the way, all of which have helped to shape me into the person I am beginning to become. I find that life is more fascinating with each day, no matter the extent. It's weird to say that I never knew that before, but I guess that's what happens with thought.
At the current moment I am passionate about: a.) all things color, especially nail polish; b.) coming up with ideas for "my space", where I can write and just be and; c.) reading. Reading has always been such a passion, yet I always assumed I never had any quality time to sit and just read. However, I've recently learned through reading, that time is just NOW. In other words, all the time we have in life is just the current moment. So when I feel in my soul that all I want is to relax and read, I do, without any worries or thoughts running through my mind about what I have to do next. And it's glorious.
I've been focusing on being more present and conscious in my life. As hard as it's been for me to let go of my constant thinking habit, doing so gives me the greatest pleasure. I find that when I allow myself to slow down and appreciate the things around me, more happiness enters my heart and I feel immense peace. With that, happiness seems to find those around me as well and I bask in that beauty.
So many times than not, we forget the simple act of appreciation. Instead, we focus too much on the things that aren't right in our lives, the things we don't have, and the people who we feel are out to get us. The truth however, is that all of these thoughts are just that; thoughts. They aren't real nor do they mean anything, unless you give them meaning. When we do that, appreciation goes out the door and we have to find our way back to it.
Right now, in this exact moment, I am only living presently. I'm not worried about the future or what it could or might bring me. My future is now, in the moments I'm creating. I'm not focusing on the past and the hope I used to have of changing it. I accept it and appreciate it with opened arms, embracing every obstacle and lesson it has taught me along the way. And I don't need all the answers anymore.
All I need in life are happiness and love. And I seem to have both of them already. Life is good. Life is worth it. Life is so much more than we give it credit for.
Today I am grateful for the simple act of appreciation and all the joy it brings when we can be still to cherish it. So today, wherever you are and whatever you're doing, reach out to appreciate someone you care about. Trust me, it goes a long way.
"We have not come into the world to be numbered; we have been created for a purpose; for great things; to love and be loved."- Mother Teresa
